Apple Pies

A little over a week ago we invited the families in our play group over for a story time and activity. Since my parents have a nice apple orchard and fall is just around the corner, we decided to read apple books for story time and to make apple pies for our activity. The kids had fun picking apples off the trees and then working with their moms to peel and core their apples. We used pre-made crusts to simplify/speed up the process and I pre-made the crumb topping to also speed up the process. In the end, every family went home with two pies, one for them and one for them to share with friends.

Here is our group, working away. I'm glad the weather was nice enough for us to be out side.
Karl and Phillip loved turning the crank on the peeler/corer.

Mr. Phillip trying to snitch some of the apples before the pies were baked.

The boys were really excited about their pies. After they cooled down, Karl ran right over to our neighbors house and gave one of the pies to them. This last week our neighbor came over to tell Karl thank you and to let him know that he and Phillip good little chefs.
