Dusty was actually on a camp out when my water broke with Phillip, so I called him at 3:00AM to tell him he needed to get back into town quick. Things turned out a little anti-climatically with a c-section at about 5:00PM, but Phillip came out a beautiful, healthy little boy. He has been a tremendous joy ever since. And that is why I refer to him as my "joy baby".
Phillip has a contagious enthusiasm for life. He lives life all out or not at all. When he wants to do something, he wants to do it right now. And when he doesn't want to do something, he lets you know quite loudly. His eyes always seem to sparkle and I am constantly wondering what he is thinking.
As you already know Phillip loves John Deere tractors. So we decided to indulge his interest and make him a special cake. He was thrilled! He just wanted to sit at the table and look at it for a long time.
The cake turned out to be really easy to make which made it even more fun to make. And it tasted great too. Phillip and Karl especially loved eating the "hay bales" aka caramels out of the trailer.
Phillip recently learned out to ride a bicycle with training wheels. Since he loves any type of trailer, we decided to get him one. Originally we planned on having Dusty make him one, but after looking at the different parts we would need, we decided that it would end up being too heavy for him to pull. Instead, we bought him a light-weight plastic one. Dusty created a special attachment so Phillip can hitch the trailer up to his bike. It has been the perfect gift. Phillip spends hours outside riding his bike around, pulling his trailer, and loading it up with miscellaneous objects.
What was the first thing he put into his trailer? Bricks... It was a little heavy and it took a lot of effort on our part to convince him to exchange his load for something lighter.
Phillip we adore you! You bring us joy every day and we cherish the time that we have with you. Thank you for helping each of us to be more excited about life and to live it more fully. We love to watch you grow and discover the world around you.

Oh, that made me laugh to hear about Phillip trying to hitch up the van. Janecce, the cake turned out great.
Phillip's enthusiasm for life IS contagious, I just think he is the cutest! His cake is awesome! You did a great job and how creative are the "hay bales"? The picture of him hitching up his trailer is priceless.
